Queens resident Stefan Pierre, 22, suffered a gunshot wound in the abdomen shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 6 in Old Bethpage. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Early on Tuesday, July 9, members of the Homicide Squad announced that they had arrested Staten Island resident Brandon Torres, 22, who was charged with second-degree murder, first-degree robbery and criminal possession of a weapon.
The investigation continued, and four more suspects were arrested later in the day. Those charged include Patricia Quilliam, 19, of Greenlawn; Charles Spinella, 17, of Kings Park; Kion Carter, 25, of Middle Island; and Dimitri Filacouris, 21, of Old Bethpage.
According to detectives, Quilliam, Spinella and Carter all conspired together with Tores and Pierre to rob Filacouris on the day of the homicide. The group arrived at the park and Torres and Carter met with Filacouris, at which point Torres pulled out a pistol and robbed him.
During the armed robbery, Carter threatened Filacouris and took a pound of marijuana, a cell phone, and keys, investigators said. During that exchange, Pierre began walking toward the three, at which point Torres allegedly shot him.
Pierre was taken to Plainview hospital by his cohorts and he was pronounced dead at approximately 5:37 a.m. on Sunday, July 7.
Carter, has been charged with robbery, criminal possession of a weapon and murder. Quilliam and Spinella were charged with robbery and criminal possession of a weapon, and Filacouris was charged with criminal possession of marijuana. All four suspects were arraigned in Hempstead on Tuesday. No return court date has been announced.
